You’d have to check the following first:

1) is there an unposted speed limit in that area
2) did you miss a sign indicating “speed zone ahead”

If there is no un-posted speed limit for that county/city and there aren’t any signs indicating that there’s a change in speed limits, then you do have a case. Take plenty of pictures and not just of the sign showing the 45 mph limit.

Better hire a lawyer if you take it to court

the environment and where you were ‘almost’ doesn’t count.

legally the new zone hits right AT the sign, not anywhere before.. plus it’s where he tagged you and came after you, not where you ended up getting pulled over.. so if the last sign you were at was a 30, then you were in a 30.

You do not have a legitimate defense.

It is not where you are pulled over, it is where you were clocked. If you were able to stop just before the speed limit changes, that means you were clocked a substantial distance before it.

As far as the argument you added in your additional details, nothing you mentioned is likely to help you. It is more likely to harm you as it likely to be inferred you are not accepting responsibility for your actions.

The officer does not have to argue you were a threat or not operating safely, just that you were exceeding the posted speed. Because of his training and experience, his testimony will be given high credibility.
