I got a speeding ticket in different state than I live in, how does this work?

I live in California and I got a minor speeding ticket in Utah ( 5 mph over). I will pay utah for the speeding ticket, but how do I get the ticket removed from my record? I can go to Traffic School in California?

Pretty sure you can not go to driving school in another state that the infraction happened in. May have different requirements and they are not getting the money. Just pay the ticket. I’ve had 2 tickets and neither one have showed up for an insurance report.

CA has nothing to do with UT. If Utah offers a driving class as a substitute (they may not), you can drive there and take it, or you can petition them to transfer the class to CA. Either way you’d have to go to UT, to the county court issuing the citation, and ask a judge to do so.

I’d just live with the ticket.

Some states have agreements under which they share driving records. Not sure, whether Utah and California have one — I doubt it…

If you pay (or properly appeal) the ticket in Utah, you should be fine with California not knowing anything.

If you don’t, Utah may ask for California’s help in collecting your fine. THEN your state will know, and remember forever…

If you need to do traffic school, you can do it online. A recommended online traffic school website is http://www.GoToTrafficSchool.com and while signing up, you can enter the code X2D-D38-BMB to get $2 off the course price.
