Many times just showing up in court works because the officer is a no show

Normally, you will not get out of the ticket. According to the police officer, you were going 21 miles over the speed limit. Talk to the prosecutor and see if you can work out a deal to reduce the violation. I doubt if they will do anything though.

Ask about defensive driving classes when you go before the judge. In AR it will keep the ticket off your record.

There is not much you can do other than go to the hearing and hope that he does not show then your off the hook. Maybe you can try and contact the police officer and see if you took a driving class and showed him proof he could let you off with a warning Good Luck

Where I live you go to court and if the cop doesn’t show then your free and clear. If he does show up then plead guilty and tell the judge you want to take the class for speeding and you’ll be let go and no points will be taken

You can’t unless the cop doesn’t show up in court for your trial.

All police cars have cameras now. They have you on camera and there’s a 99% chance this cop is going to show up in court. To avoid going to court, plead the option where you will have a probation (they should have given you a pamphlet when you where given the ticket by the officer). Fill it out, sign it, and send it in with your payment.

If you follow the rules of the road during the probationary period you plead to, then the ticket will not count against you. If you’re given another ticket during the probationary period then the probation becomes null and void and both tickets will count against you. Good Luck buddy!

You might look into a Diversion. In Kansas you can have one Diversion a year and it keeps the ticket off of your record, but you have to pay the ticket and a Diversion fee. Call your courthouse and ask someone about it. I’ve had a Diversion and it kept the ticket off of my record.

I would definitely show up to correct the ticket since it was cited in a 35 and actually a 40 mph. zone

You should be able to ask to go to driving school. Do not call your insurance company. Let them find out when they run their reports, which they do once or twice a year. You don’t want your rates to go up higher before they have to.

don,t waste your time going to court…if your gonna lose work time that is. Take the safety classes.Defensive driving course. If the cop does show you will lose. do you have proof it was 35mph zone?

You have admitted you were speeding; the only issue at hand is how much your fine is going to be.

You can take traffic school to avoid it being reported to your insurance company (and avoid the rise in your premium), but it will still be reported to the DMV and you will still get the points.

if no record plead guilty and ask for driver improvement

Tim September 9, 2010 at 7:43 am

Either way you were speeding. Most officers DO show up or get suspended at work. Just pay it and go to drivers school to erase the points.

Well, the Officer must show proof and evidence.
I was able to beat seven (7) California tickets in the past 2 years. All by the method of Trial By Written Declaration (TBWD). You just need to call the court, and ask to contest your ticket by TBWD. You will need to download a form TR-205 and mail out the bail (ticket payment), and explain your reason in TR-205. With TBWD, you don’t have to show up at the courthouse. Make sure you mail TR-205 about 2 weeks before your ticket due date.
If you were found guilty, you still have one more chance to appeal which is called Trial de Novo (TDN).
At TDN, you have to show up in court , and if the Officer did not show up, you win. If he show up, do this:
1) Ask the Judge for his TBWD since he is to turn in his TBWD within one month.
2) Use your reasonings from TBWD, and attack/corss examine the Officer.
