I was going 72 in a 55. The ticket was written up but I was handed a standard sheet of paper that says “these instructions replace those printed on the uniform traffic citation.” The back says I was cited for an infraction, court costs are $110, but below it says I was cited for a waivable misdemeanor, court costs are $110. So I guess I pay one or both. It doesn’t say anything about the penalty fee.

My number one priority is to avoid an increase in my insurance, and my second priority is to avoid paying the fees. Does a defensive driving class before court help or do you have to wait until after? Is it possible for the court costs to be reduced by going to court?

Speeding ticket is for 19 over (construction zone) and is around $250. If I plead guilty what is the process afterwards and can I get a reduction in the ticket or no points on my license?

My father got his first speeding ticket for driving 63mph in a 45mph zone in upstate New York yesterday. We have the options for plea of guilty or not guilty. He can take a day off from work to go to the court, but he worries about the lawyer’s fee. Also, his English is not so good. What is the best way to get the minimum punishment or fines?

If you are a police officer, or a former police officer, I really would like to know you opinion on this point !!!
I have cruise control in my car and I want to use it to be a good citizen, I want to do what is right.

If I am driving on a road with signs that are posted with a 60 mph limit, should I set my cruise for exactly 60 mph, and then have lots of people behind me, cursing at me for going so slow, and then needing to pull over every few miles to let them go by?

Or should I set the cruise control to a slightly higher speed, perhaps 5 mph higher ( to 65 ) ? But if I do this won’t I be breaking the law and this is not right. When you are not in your police car and you are going shopping for groceries, and you are driving in a 60-zone, what speed would you set your cruise control for if you were to do such a thing?

Thanks, I’m going to do just that.
I’ll set my cruise control to exactly the speed limit, and then when if I have a car behind me for a few miles and there is no way for him to pass me (due to too much traffic), I’ll just pull to the side and let him pass, so I won’t be a major pain in the butt for other drivers needing to rush to work or pick up their kids at school, or other things like that.

I want to do the right thing and obey ALL the laws, at the same time I don’t want to get under the skin of others who want to or need to go much faster.
Please don’t take any offense, but I would like to make just one comment. If I said “TO HECK” with the other drivers behind me, and didn’t help them to pass, then …. Well, … I’ve had experiences like that. It usually results in other drivers taking unnecessary risks and this can lead to a serious accident, maybe even a head-on collision. I don’t want to be responsible for someone dying that way. Sorry.

But 650 is a lil steep..
