During my drive with the Beltronics STi-R, Escort Passport 9500ci, and Whistler Pro-78SE, I came upon a very tricky speed trap (from behind), positioned shortly after the apex of an approaching curve leaving very little if any real time to react to an instant-on ambush regardless of the kind of radar detector you were using. I hope this video demonstrates that even the best radar detectors are just tools which can not always provide adequate protection from every type of traffic enforcement situation or speed trap. You should always keep alert and situationally aware of your surroundings. Your radar detector should supplement, not supplant your own alertness to your surroundings. This is a comparison of the Trapster system on a Windows mobile device (Samsung Omnia) and Trapster on a Garmin PND (Garmin 265WT) and the Escort 9500ix Radar detector.
