What Type Of Radar Detector Do You Have And Why?

Any suggestions for those with a digital compass, long range reads, and an easy-to-read screen?
If you use your radar to only speed, then I don’t really don’t want your answer on this post. Thanks.

Then what else would you need a radar detector for?
Me, I’m retired, I’m not in any particular hurry, have had no tickets in 15 years, and like to keep it that way. My insurance rate is pretty good.
Add to that, I’ve spent a good part of 30 years doing professional driving and even over long distances (cross-counttry) I’ve found that time gained by speeding isn’t enough to risk the higher cost of a ticket. Traffic conditions, weather conditions, stopping for meals and refueling, all takes the average back down to a constant.
The best time I ever made was Detroit, MI to Jacksonville, FL and back in 28 hours. That was an AVERAGE of 75 mph, but I had to do 110 a lot of the way to get that average.
So, why do I have a radar detector? Well, here I am, not gazing CONSTANTLY at my speedometer as there ARE more important things to keep my eyes on, and sometimes the traffic flow does get me up above the speed limit.
And a speeding ticket is just a snapshot in time. I could do the correct speed 364 days of the year, but all it takes is one ticket on that 365th day, and all the rest don’t matter.
So when the radar detector goes off, it reminds me to check my speed and get it back down if necessary. (If I”m all by myself, it’s too late, but then I don’t have traffic flow to pull me along, now, do I?)
Since all I need is a cheap reminder, I use a cheap radar detector, Cobra. I sure wouldn’t have used it on that Jacksonville run, but then I’m not one who only uses it to speed, as you said.

Simply, I use my radar detector to remind me whether im over or under speed, and for me it’s for fun , it feels like somebody is taking a picture of me and time to say ‘cheese’. Radar detectors comes with different band the higher the better detection.but more expensive. k-band is believe to be most effective with 12-18ghz, but not susceptible to a moving instant on radar, so you loose!!!! Drive carefully & safely.
