Will A Radar Detector, Circa 1990, Be Viable In Detecting Police Speed Radar Today?

THERE IS NO SINGLE DEVICE THAT CAN DETECT ALL THE DEVICES UTILIZED TODAY! LET ALONE THE BURST MODE! SOME USE THE IN-THE-ROAD CENSORS WHICH LITERALLY CANNOT BE DETECTED! OTHERS UTILIZE VISUAL CHECKPOINTS AND COMPUTE SPEED!
A SPEED DETECTOR 1990 WILL DETECT PROBABLY 90 PERCENT OF THE RADARS IN USE. CITIES CANNOT AFFORD TO SWITCH TECHNOLOGIES AS QUICKLY AS IT CHANGES. HIGHWAY PATROLS ARE USUALLY THE FIRST TO UTILIZE NEW TECHNOLOGIES IN A PHASE-IN.
EONS AGO WE HAD RADAR HERE THAT HAD A GASOLINE GENERATOR REQUIRED TO OPERATE IT !!!! IT WAS AT LEAST PAINTED OLIVE DRAB GREEN.
HAPPY MOTORING.
DRIVE CAREFULLY HEAR!

Really it will not have the capabillities to detect Ka-band radar the newest radar frequency…BUT the range on detecting X and K band radar will be as good as the best radar detectors today
For example, look at the results of the Escort DSP at this most recent test of all the top radar detectorshttp://guysoflidar.com/testjan06.html

It seems like police are coming out with new radar frequencies all the time, so I’d say “no” to your question. Police use lasers, too, and this older radar detector will probably not detect laser.
